The game started with a slight hiccup when the opposition turned up with only four players. Rather than play 5 v 4, Arborfield Aces stuck to their club ethos of keeping things fair and fun for both sides, and offered to play 4 v 4 instead. The gesture was warmly received by Laurel Park, who were a pleasure to host today.
The Aces went ahead early on, before Laurel Park fought their way into the lead by the end of the second quarter. But undeterred, the boys battled back as a team to level things up, before stepping on the gas in the final quarter to seal the win.
Pick of the goals had to be Max's free kick from outside the box, rifled straight past the keeper.
It was a joy to watch the boys play as a team today, and a fully deserved win. Goals came from Roan, Noah (2), Max, and Reynolds, with assists from Ethan (2) and Max. A special mention too for a great save from Oscar in the final quarter, and some excellent corners from Frankie, who was unlucky not to pick up an assist.
A great start to the season for these boys against very good opposition. The Aces would like to wish Laurel Park all the best for the rest of the season.
