rborfield Aces were left chasing the game from the start, falling two goals behind inside 17 minutes as a Bracknell striker bagged a brace. The Aces dug in, though, with strong tackling in the centre of midfield from Rory, Christian and Jackson helping them claw back some control.
The breakthrough came in the 18th minute. Fieldy's determined chasing won a corner, Rory whipped it in with pace, Winko flicked it on at the back post, and Jude was there to fire home his first goal of the season. At 2-1, the Aces were back in it, and a spell of good attempts followed, though the final ball just wasn't falling their way.
Bracknell started the second half quickly, scoring early to make it 3-1. From there the game opened up. Hayden made three crucial saves and the Aces pressed well, but Bracknell's tactical switch made the difference. Their big striker had dropped to centre back after the break to deal with the pace of Winko and Chio, and when he moved back up front at the hour mark, he promptly scored to make it 4-1.
The Aces refused to give up. In the 61st minute Will held the ball up superbly in the box before calmly finding Winko, who fired past the keeper to make it 4-2. With time still on the clock, a comeback looked possible. But as the Aces pushed for more, Bracknell sneaked through the back line with five minutes left to seal a 5-2 win.
It's another defeat for the Aces, and not the start their pre-season form promised, but the effort is there and the team is improving week after week. We still haven't seen the best of this group, but we certainly will soon.
Man of the Match: Johnny, for brilliant defending and some great running with the ball.
As always the Aces would like to thank Bracknell for a great game.
